Generations of Harp Repair Experience

Introduction

Hello my name is Alexander Begin. I am the owner and operator of Begin Again Harps. I am a passionate wood worker and furniture maker who has found himself in the wonderful world of harps. I received my woodworking credentials from the North Bennet Street School in Boston where I graduated from their fine furniture and cabinetry program. It was there I learned how to make traditional 18th century furniture including tables, chairs, dressers, mirrors and other classic furniture forms. While looking for work during my studies I happened upon Carl Swanson when he came to present his work in harp repair at my school in the hopes of finding an apprentice. I instantly knew that this was an opportunity I couldn’t miss. The idea of working on such interesting and complex instruments was perfect for me. While not a musician myself I admire those that are, and I am happy to be able to satisfy my love for woodworking and music in my career. Carl has been extremely generous with his knowledge for the 5 years I have been learning and working with him. I am confident that with my new skills and passion, I will continue the work he started and serve the harp community for the next generation.
